How easy is it to change your own front door lockset?

To just change out the front door lockset and keep your existing key you can take it to your local locksmith and they can give you recommendations on what should be done. Not all locksets & keyways are the same so you just can't buy anyone and expect it to work.
As far as removing an old one and installing the new one it is fairly easy.
The link below has pictures of a new deadbolt installation. Installing a cylindrical front door lockset is pretty much the same thing.

It is quite easy to use a screw driver and take the lock to a locksmith and have the tumblers moved and get a new key. Put it back in the same way you took it out.
If you buy a new knob set it takes a couple of minutes with a screw driver. If you want to change the tumblers and re-key it gets complicated.
